If the economy crashes we are the ones who are gonna be fucked... I don't think I can afford a 5090 before or after.
I am fascinated that people think if only the economy crashes everything will be back to normal. No, we are all fucked. The billionaires have already fucked us all.
Just gotta wait for the strategic oil reserves to run out while diaperman keeps closing the strait, and it'll be a big ol' happy happy
While it is true that they are at their lowest levels in a long time, the reality is that between domestic production that we have available and the reserves, even if our usage continued to grow, we still have a few years worth before we would actually genuinely run out.
Its like how people think they will be able to by a house if there is a housing market crash like corporations won’t still be the highest bidders.
if you have USD/other currency but not assets the economy crashing is good if you are a wageslave it's bad.
I'm sure all of the Zimbabweans hoarding some large denimination $1,000 stacks of cash under their bed were still doing great after the 12mil% hyperinflation caused the central bank to issue $100,000,000,000,000 notes.
Not if the economy crashing causes increased inflation and interest rates, then you'd wish you had assets that hold value rather than currency which will lose its value.
Although, given the numbers most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and don't have a wealth of assets or cash.

Perhaps the upvote was in their own country's social currency, but then rapid hyperinflation happened since they commented. Lemmy was just showing us its value adjusted by the current exchange rate.
