Rule 1- All posts must begin with TIL. Linking to a source of info is optional, but highly recommended as it helps to spark discussion.

Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding non-TIL posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-TIL posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

They are given due process, including access to lawyers, evidence, and witnesses. They're even allowed to take the case to court. All public universities are required to offer full due process when expelling students.
Private universities are not required to do so because they're not run by the government.
An anonymous poster posts a story in Reddit…
That’s in contradiction to what the Wikipedia page shows.
So many of them do not. Why does not being run by the government exempt schools from applying basic human rights?
Your question is a little hyperbolic since what your talking about is title IX specifically, not “human rights” in general.
You can read about title IX exemptions here.
I’m not talking about human rights in general, I’m talking about those specific basic human rights.
How are they being denied basic human rights?
Title IX is very specific and the organization you refer to, FACE, specifically states their goal in relation to title IX.
I can’t tell if your arguing in bad faith or you don’t understand title IX compared to other laws that would apply.
I was talking about the organisation in the first comment, but then the discussion went to public and private universities in general, which I then replied to.
And the basic human right is the due process I mentioned before.
You don’t have to jump to accusations “bad faith” because you and I are misunderstanding one another. Let’s try to keep Lemmy normal and not spiral into a Reddit argument.
I’m not misunderstanding you. I think your struggling to follow your own conversation.
You brought up FACE, an organization concerned with Title IX enforcement specifically.
The other user explained they are given due process (under Title IX) and explained (poorly) that private colleges are not bound by the same rules if they don’t take government funding, expressed as government run.
Then you shifted it to some conversation about basic human rights and questioned what not being government run has to do with.
Which is why I shared the federal government page outlining Title IX exemptions.
Due process is covered under the 5th and 14th amendments, not Title IX.
Remember this:
Where you cited a Wikipedia article about an organization concerned with Title IX to justify your claim they’re not given “due process”.
It’s either bad faith or stupidity. Either way, I’m done engaging with it.
Ahhh so it is a Reddit argument you’re looking for. I can’t help you, but I will correct some errors:
Please read the comment above mine.
And I replied to that with pointing that out as a problem.
My initial comment:
vs.
Potato potato.
That’s your interpretation of it. And considering the upvote / downvote ratios in your screen shot I assume more people agree with me than with you.
Not from my side anyway. Good luck and goodbye.
