Personally I don't think they're too heavy, but ymmv. Nothing goes in the ear canal so that stays clear.
You can also get over ear "hooks": https://shokz.com/pages/openfit2
Those may be even heavier, but they sit on top of your ear rather than hanging off them.
I've never liked wearing earphones in bed as I want to turn on my side, I've never found any to be comfortable in that position.
Also Shokz is definitely not the only brand which sells these kinds, just the one I'm familiar with.
