It's wild to think that if the Jets weren't so busy stroking Aaron's ego, they could have added a competent QB to replace him by week 2. Even just top 25 QB play, they're likely fighting for the division title. Such a wasted season for them.

[–] UnsuspectingS1ut@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Apparently ownership are the ones forcing the zach Wilson “experiment” to continue. Saleh basically said the decision to keep playing him was out of his hands. I don’t think it has anything to do with rodgers

[–] hypothalanus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I feel like it couldn’t possibly be Saleh, he knows his job is directly at stake. I’m sure ownership/GM find it hard to admit they were wrong about the #2 pick

[–] DJ_Marxman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

None of the QBs available would make them a contender with the Oline and WRs they have. It's Breece, Garrett Wilson, and a bunch of fuckin' nobodies.

[–] AngryBillsFan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They chose Tim Boyle over keeping Mike White Btw

[–] Impossibills@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (7 children)

Dobbs or Wentz would have won games for them, it's crazy

[–] Dangerous_Nitwit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Anything more than stapling your nuts to your leg and thanking Streamline for making antibacterial staples would have had them in contention for the division lead. But somebody who is a player personnel decision maker is this big of a masochist on that staff or that bad of a decision maker to think they could make work at QB what they have tried.

Oddly specific but hilarious

[–] pmayankees@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dobbs yes. Dalton or Winston yes. Lots of other nfl backups yes. But Wentz is a bum.

[–] T-kimGUY@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Hell even just keeping Mike White there would've been a hell of a lot better than what they've done.

[–] GVas22@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mike White signed to be a backup in Miami, closer to where he grew up.

Going into the season there was serious concerns around Tua, so it also seemed like he would have a better job getting starter minutes.

[–] trollinn@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Mike White was basically as good as Zach people just like him cause he replaced Zach last year but he also sucked.

[–] johannthegoatman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He was not great the games after getting his ribs smashed but when he was healthy he was pretty good

[–] BreakFromToronto@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

lmao he is 2-5 as the Jets starting QB, across 8 games for them, he amassed numbers of 62 completion%, 2100 passing yards, 8 TDs and 12 INTs; he was also injury prone af and could barely handle playing 3-4 games in a row without an injury.

he had two outlier games against the bears (worst defense in the league at the time) and bengals (that was largely YAC) that boost his numbers (account for 33% of his passing yardage, 75% of his TD passes and 16% of his INTs...). he played one game post ribs injury and it was barely different from how he looked when he ultimately got benched in 2021 against buffalo.

the bar was so so low, this guy was not good lmao jets fans were just so happy that they actually had a qb that could complete a forward pass consistently that they pretended he was.

[–] Lord-Aizens-Chicken@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Idk I saw Mike white get like 40 points on the bears last year, Zach has never done that

[–] BreakFromToronto@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

i can't believe this sub is still sticking with the narrative that a dobbs, wentz, winston, or dalton would have made the jets better lmao they probably win the patriots game and nothing else changes.

  • the cowboys game was a blowout that even aaron rodgers would've lost
  • patriots, one or all of them win it
  • chiefs, zach wilson played as good as you could hope and still lost
  • chargers blow out and overall display of complete offensive incompetence with a rare special teams blunder as well
  • raiders, wilson accounted for 300 total yards lol team scored a rushing TD which honestly would've probably ended it, but penalty called it back
  • bills blowout
  • dolphins blowout (maybe this one? cause if boyle doesn't throw a pick 6 before half you're starting the third quarter down 10-6 and picked off tua twice).

so sorry, maybe two more wins and i'm being generous saying they could have won yesterday.

  • the offensive coordinator is the worst in the league
  • the offensive line is on their 167th different alignment
  • receivers don't get open outside of garrett (and conk who is mainly a checkdown) because of point 1 and 2
  • dropsies from the receivers is an issue as well if they do manage to get open
  • they cannot establish a run game because of point 1 and 2
  • they are penalized at an alarming rate negating any good offensive progress majority of the time as well lol because of point 2 (lots of holds)

the jets qbs are bad, but all the above is true as well and swapping in another backup-level player isn't going to magically fix these things. this sub continues to pretend though that other backups would navigate through all this and lead the jets to the playoffs and i can't understand it as someone who watches how bad they're failing at every aspect offensively. only aaron rodgers would make a meaningful impact because he would ignore the OC 95% of the time.

[–] acekingoffsuit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

How many of those blowouts became blowouts because the offense couldn't do anything, leading to the defense getting worn out? Marginally better QB play wouldn't turn them into a 10-1 squad but it would give them a fighting chance in at least some of those contests.

[–] sequence_killer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You’re right, why bother trying eh? It was already into the first game, might as well wait till next year.

[–] BreakFromToronto@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

like i mentioned elsewhere, lost 3 after game 1 and then won 3 in a row and were 4-3 at the deadline. there were moves to be made at the deadline, but a qb upgrade was not; zach wilson was not holding this team back like he was last year. qb is barely a top 3 issue with the offense right now, i'm telling you it doesn't matter what backup qb you have in there.

[–] sopunny@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tbh yeah, the fans hate it but if the Jets want to make the most out of Rodgers next year they have to tank this year. They're just in a really bad qb situation where they spent a lot of money and draft picks to get a maybe good QB for 2-3 years, and then they lost one of those years

[–] happyscrappy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dalton!

You made my day. Everything around Rodgers is always a circus. But suggesting the Red Rifle is the answer may just take the cake.

[–] Temporal_Enigma@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Dobbs has two career wins outside of Minnesota and Wentz had comparable stats to Wilson last year

[–] Tschmelz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, people got blinders on because he's come into Minnesota and won some games, but we have a MUCH stronger offense than the Jets do. Dobbs ain't doing shit on that Jets team.

[–] Lord-Aizens-Chicken@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The conversation needs to be is rodgers really going to take that team anywhere then? He is amazing, but if the rest of that offense is that bad idk if they have a chance

[–] Tschmelz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

IF they stay fully healthy, and IF they shore up the offensive line and maybe get a true WR2 in the offseason, and IF Rodgers comes back 100% no steps back...maybe. It's not like parts aren't there for them to be a contender, I just think that even with a fully healthy Rodgers right now, they aren't good enough.

[–] sktgamerdudejr@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

idk what this subs fascination with Wentz is all about, he would not be better than what the Jets are doing. There’s a reason it look so long for a team to sign him.

Zach has played like dogshit but Wentz would suck just as much.

[–] shewy92@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think the ghost of Matt Ryan would have been better than Boyle

[–] Obvious_Parsley3238@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Such a wasted season for them.

it was wasted as soon as rodgers went down. if they got dobbs or wentz they might win 9 games, squeak into the playoffs, and lose in the wildcard. they should have gone all in on the tank

[–] Hotdogger99@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Eh, playoffs are playoffs, though. More revenue for the team, and literally anything can happen in the playoffs. Burrows been lost, bills are not the same, mahomes looks human, etc. jets have a phenomenal D and every year it gets harder to keep a core together. Just getting to the dance gives you a chance!

[–] PabloTroutSanchez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, idgaf if we get there and get blown out in the wildcard. I just wanna be there

[–] ThatInception@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

they should have gone all in on the tank

I don’t think it gets said enough but you can’t just waste a season tanking with players who are busting their ass week in and week out.

Sure, it’s easy as fans for us to say that but coaches still have to have a game plan that won’t cause the locker room to fall apart. Doesn’t help to have your starting QB get hurt but a team like the Vikings rallied around Dobbs and they fight hard even when their season looked lost.
