I sometimes use travel vlogs as research material when planning my trips. I feel they have the potential to give us a glimpse of what everyday life in a foreign place away from the main sights. But I cannot for the life of me stand those vloggers who run around and yell “Hello!” at locals (I appreciate the effort to learn the local language, but who does that? That’s not normal human behaviour.).

Are there any vloggers who do not exhibit the behaviour above you could recommend?

There’s some so polished about his presentation that I find really irritating.

I’ve always liked cranky travel writing—Paul Theroux, VS Naipaul, etc.—so I dislike when everything is relentlessly positive.

His content seems more like what you’d expect to see on American television aimed at stay at home moms.

I was actually telling my partner about this post about how I replied with drew binsky and he said the same haha, so I get. I guess I was surprised no one else wrote him because he has a big following.

I will say his latest video on his trip to Haiti was not positive!
