Harald Baldr for me. I think he does the best job of showing a true account of what it's like somewhere without being overly sensationalist. His longer videos and mostly unedited style aren't for everyone but I generally find him to be the best one.
Digital Nomads
I like Paddy Doyle, CB Media, and NoTimeToBeSad (which is more of a daily like in Thailand vlog).
BTW I say Hi to almost everybody I pass I'm Thailand. I at least give a big smile. It is amazing how friendly the locals are here. I always get a huge smile or a hello with a smile as a reply.
There are a few I've been watching recently, but SwedishGringo has been the most helpful in my S.A. search (especially Brazil). TheCountryCollectors is another one off the top of my head
Oh man he's so girl-crazy though. I sometimes wonder if he was targeted in Rio because people knew he had a YouTube channel. Bro stuck out like a sore thumb... but at least he's enjoying himself.
Gabriel Traveler is good
Agreed. His style is still very DIY and less commercialised than many of the other travel vloggers.
It's got a less polished and more realistic feel.
Timmy Karter, Bald and Bankrupt, Kurt Caz, Sabbatical, and Itchy Boots are my favorites
These are exactly what the algo feeds me too. Add ‘Small Brained American’ to this list, it’s pretty good.
Travel escapes if you like the Philippines
Why watch travel vlogs when I can literally be anywhere in the world that I want?
It makes no sense to me to live vicariously through vloggers when I can step outside and vlog myself if I felt like my experiences are worth sharing. (They aren't.)
Would you like to vlog your trial at the International Criminal Court sir?
That would be something worth vlogging!
But funny enough, my dream job once upon a time was to work in the ICC. Would be good for the memes and my career!
Christ, it’s the ‘why watch people play videogames’ argument in 2023?
Fearless and far.
Definitely the best.
Simon Wilson the goat
Gabriel (Morris) is good. It's simple, just straight info.
, Bald and Bankrupt
Donnie
Roberto vs the world
I like that intense bald South African guy in a suit whose wife is a doctor and lived in China and now makes all these scandalous videos about life over there. Forget his name. Cantankerous yet likable fella.
Indigo Traveller, Sabatical, Bald and Bankrupt
Ugh - Bald and Bankrupt is an asshole in real life and routinely harasses women (even blatantly shows it on his channel sometimes, though not as much recently after being called out).
Wandering emma
Wolters World isn’t exactly vlogging more like tips on travel from experience. And he seems nice
The love for Bald is head scratching. He gives an exclusively stereotypical Anglo point of view, seems condescending and borderline racist. The type of traveler he portrays is the exact type of traveler I am actively trying to avoid when abroad
Pretty sure he’s extremely derogatory towards women too. Can’t remember specifically what it was but he was involved in some dodgy forums.
I despise him. I really don't understand they undying love for him, either.
They're small (in terms of following) but I really like them because they're very much still learning - but I feel this makes them more real. I got the chance to meet them in Turkey, the absolute nicest couple. Check out the Mamuchos on YT/Insta etc. They focus mainly on Turkey/surrounds and life with pets on the road, but I think they're from USA and Mexico.
I know they are kinda a different subgenre (sailing) but Sailing La Vagabond was good the first few years they did it (I stopped watching once they started going to places more than once). Sailing Doodles was pretty good as well.
I'd love to hear some good Van Life vlogs to watch!
Peter Santanello
I love that guy who documents trains around Japan. He’s such an adorable train nerd and his excitement over train things got me adding a lot to my japan todo list. He also doesn’t talk which is a bonus in my book. There might be 2 of them, idk know exactly, the videos just keep showing up in my YouTube feed.
C90Adventures for me, Bald & Bankrunt probably a close second.
Sabbatical
Bald and bankrupt
Travel vloggers are cancer that sour the local populace's view towards foreigners, equivalent to how instagrammers shit up everything that people love about a place.
So none.
Backpacking bananas is pretty legit and I check in for Lostleblanc when he uploads.
YesTheory
Kara & Nate, the early years in particular.
They're all super kringe. I just read travel stuff.
Hardest Geezer. Mfkr is running across Africa on foot
i'm a fan of [vlogger's name], especially the way he captures the vibe of lesser-known places. his authenticity sets him apart from the usual touristy vlogs.
Buddymoon, Janine Freuling and GypsyInSneakers right now
I had this couple stay at my coliving space, they're super chill: https://youtube.com/@HelenandTimTravel?si=z623qrmQ869SXX8O
I like Joose the Nomad, mostly SE Asia content.
