Rules
- This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
- Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
- No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
- Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
- If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
- Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
- Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
- No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
- Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.
(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.
We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.
If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.
If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the admin that applied the rule (check modlog first to find who was it.)

I've been saying it for a while: Trump is going to build up the bases on Greenland and declare it U.S. territory. This is just part of that plan.
No he's not. He isn't doing shit there. He may claim he does, but he won't do anything.
Because he can't.
Why can't he? Nobody will stop them. The world should be hoping for a US civil war. Meanwhile, they should build up their defenses (which they are) and even prepare to invade should a civil war happen.
If the rest of the world invades, there's a good chance the US would not act as a unified force to repel the invasion. A majority of the people in the US do not want the current regime, and would likely not support it above the other countries, who would be seen as liberators.
If another Western democracy invaded us, I'd join them and hand out guns to lacking Americans.
I expect that if there are guns to hand out they probably would get handed out.
I imagine that it would depend on how many spares were available. Like if, for example, not many people had guns, it might be less likely to succeed. But if tons of people had gone out and bought one, there might be fewer people looking for one. And if everyone who already owned one had gotten a spare with some higher-capacity magazines just in case, that might really make that more likely.
But I'd be really interested to see if people in the US would go about learning about how a lot of weapons are made from stuff people have around their homes.
Not that any of this is going to happen, of course.
My guns wouldn't go very far. :)
I have loads, but for example a load are single-shot shotguns. Takes some practice to reload fast. And black powder is right out. And the funky shit like .22 magnum, yeah, not a lot of rounds out there, and zero people reloading. Not giving up the .223, tiny 9mm and .45s. Go find your own damned gun!
Invading a NATO ally is a whole different ball game than launching an illegal Middle East war. They're only replaced, at my last count, 10% of the General Staff. That's not nearly enough for total control and doesn't count thousands and thousands of lower ranking officers.
What makes you think they need total control? When has the American Military ever not gleefully committed crimes?
There may be some internal conflict and discharges all over the place, but I think most of the military would be on board with it.
On board with invading a NATO country?! Think on that some more. It's not up there with nukes, but we're well past merely fucked up geopolitics.
The American Military has never had any qualms about murdering their own citizens. What makes you think they'd have any qualms about invading a NATO country?
And when has the American military murdered its own citizens? A handful of National Guard at Kent State? That's it?
But let's stipulate that they're just fine with killing US citizens. Going against NATO's military is a very different proposition.
Good lord. The unimaginable willful ignorance you just displayed is staggering.
And yet you don't have a single example to enlighten me? And nothing to say about my second statement?
Trump
Always
Chickens
Out
That's a far right slogan that was pushed by his weirdos onto reddit.
It's very pathetic to see someone using that phrase in the wild.
That's the first time I see a claim like that, therefore I don't believe you.
Are you serious? What does it mean, for one? It's to antagonize him to do something? Call him to chicken to do shit, inciting him to do shit?
It doesn't even make sense for anyone that doesn't like him to say.
What?
What does it mean? Taco. Trump always chickens out.
They pushed that bullshit phrase before he attacked Venezuela and then Iran.
It is antagonistic, it doesn't even make sense for someone that hates everything he does to say. Why would anyone want to goad him into doing more damage.
Unless you're a right-wing nut case.
What?
Dermark will stop him
No they won't.
