The Tomlin effect. He does not get the credit he deserves being able to manage and keep the team upright. It’s hilarious hearing Steeler fans wanting him fired, Tomlin would have 15 head coach offers before he left the parking lot.

This is obviously going to get me downvoted and I genuinely love Tomlin, but what never gets discussed is that he has just as much responsibility as anyone for the team that looks like a 2-15 team. Yes, he pulls all his teams above .500 every year but also should hold some responsibility for never reaching that next level and constantly looking outmatched.

There’s a ton of nuance that I don’t have time to dive into and I agree more than half the teams would be happy to have him but sometimes that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s 100% perfect where he is at right now. But obviously the players love him and he brings stability to an org that loves stability so that goes a long way.

never reaching that next level

Oh my memory is probably wrong, that was coher in 08 and 10

Like how you can Tomlin and the organization credit for stability but pretend there's no correlation between long term stability and success?

Of all the reasons to not like Tomlin

The cognitive dissonance is insane.

Black coach.
