Westbrook was never one of my favorite players during most of his prime, but seeing how Westbrook has handled his last few years helped me gain a lot of respect for him.

Sure he never was the lead guy on a championship team, but his competitiveness is amazing. He played his best through all the Lakers drama. Westbrook also put up 37 in a playoff game in the most recent playoffs. I'm quite a huge fan of this late-career Westbrook.

Kobe - when I first started following the NBA as a kid, Kobe was the player I liked to root against. Near the end of his career I had nothing but love for him.

I’ve done multiple 180s on KD.. had him prematurely as one of the best ever back in the late OKC days just projecting out his career but then flipped complete after signing with golden state.

I believed that you could pick literally anyone of that all star team that season, add them to those warriors and they still would have won the titles without injuries.

Because that turned people off KD and then he came back to the cartoon nets, I feel he was almost underrated.. now I just think he is one of the greats that fucked his own legacy.. he could have gone the dame path and stayed in OKC a little longer, or atleast just chose another option besides golden state.. I think he would have still earned at least one ring that would weigh more than what he got in Golden state in my opinion

I almost agree with all of this besides you saying he “fucked his own legacy”. His legacy is totally fine lmfao

Really? He's the best playing, nicest guy in the league you'd expect to be called Bitchmade.

His legacy is 100% cemented as a player.

But in discussions / rankings people will allwaaaaays make sure to bring up the move to the Warriors.

I disagree.. the difference in KD choosing golden state over choosing the Knicks for example is the difference in people talkin Lebron and Steph as the carriers of this generation vs KD bein right there with em… everyone that says KD is better than Steph has to answer for how Steph got 2 more rings on a HIS own team..

I disliked him for is move to Golden St but he has ultimately won me over for genuinely deep love of basketball.

Yeah, used to be my favourite players watching especially the OKC days. Kinda tried to be the 'bad' guy of the league joining GSW which had me going meh.

But seeing him now, just loving to ball out reminds me of those OKC days

I believed that as well. I still believe it.

Do you believe that Dame’s decision to stay in Portland has helped his legacy? Couldn’t disagree more. I think he’s one of the most talented players that will just be kind of forgotten about because he achieved nothing. Say what you will about KD’s rings, he’s got them and that will never be taken away from him.

Ironically enough, Dame has some similarities to Drexler (minus the championship contention in Portland, obviously).

  • Drafted to a team trying to find a new identity after injury turmoil in the last few years (Walton/Roy and Oden)
  • Franchise cornerstone for around a decade
  • Overshadowed by a generational talent with a similar playstyle who wins multiple championships (Jordan/Curry)
  • Requests a trade shortly after a new GM comes in
  • Gets moved to a team that's won a championship in the last few years (Rockets/Bucks) to be the second star on the team behind the team's leader (Hakeem/Giannis)
