I think the stuff about Mann was all a smokescreen. I don't see how he really fits on the sixers. Batum and Roco? Huge additions. And Covington hasn't even shot many 3s yet to my knowledge.
mann was never supposed to be a long term sixer. the sixers wanted expiring contracts to match the $$$ and picks, since they want cap space. if those expiring contracts fit well as role players, that's a bonus (and it has been a huge bonus - arguably as important as the draft picks).
the trade for mann was only if the clippers weren't willing to give up another pick, so that the sixers could flip him for a pick or trade him, since his contract was not desirable for the sixers. note that the trade also dumped pj tucker's contract onto the clippers. the sixers will have an insane amount of cap space next season - more than the pistons. they look like a team about to rebuild but they have a playoff roster.
