Kinda feels weird that Intentional Grounding penalties are... not penalties, really.

In lieu of getting buried under a few hundred pounds of defensive linemen, losing a huge amount of yardage and losing a down... they lose basically that same amount of yardage and the down.

Why wouldn't you try to intentionally ground the ball every single time if there's no other penalty? Or maybe that's the point, to not discourage QBs from risking an intentional grounding penalty instead of getting turned into a painful pile of ground beef?
