Unfortunately my ear buds are suffering from the infamouse problem since I updated the software a couple of months ago.I contacted the custommer support centre they refereed me to their repair shop and said that if the problem is with the software then I will be able to change the faulty earbud with a new one for a charge of 120e.

I was surprised by this because I saw a bunch of posts on here which said that they got new ones free of charge.

I am suspecting this is because I live in Serbia and we don't have customer protection laws.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Having the option to pay for a replacement and not getting it for free because it is pretty infuriating to have to pay for something after they broke the product.

Also have there been similar issues with battery drain with the new wf-1000xm5 and wh-1000xm5?

Thank you to everyone who shares any info.

It started when Sony went from Varta to Chinese suppliers for true wireless batteries.

I also suspect the truth is true wireless earphones are "too small to be reliable" in current technology, that's why you see far fewer issues with overhead headphones. These products are not on a fast release cycle - the WFXM4 was on the market for two whole years, as were things like Jabra's Elite series.

To small to be reliable is probably true to an extent. But ive had Samsung buds for years with no issues. Some brands seem to have more problems than others.

2 years is a fast release cycle in my mind, and battery issues did not become widespread until a year or so after the product was launched. That was my point. And by that point they probably already knew what they were doing with the XM5 to the point it may be difficult to change.
