The old, "Look what you made me do!", defense strategy. AKA: "Yeah, I used sticks and stones. But words hurt".

Most people learn how to deal with being a part of a greater society in kindergarten. Most pro-athletes realize that fans want to get into your head, and distract you from paying attention to what you're being paid to pay attention to. You let them distract you, they win. If you don't want to them win, act like they don't even exist.
