How did public opinion on Klay Thompson change so much in the past few seasons? (alien.top)

I remember a Bill Simmons pod a few years ago where Bill said "Klay Thompson has one of the highest approval ratings" of any NBA player in the league.

Now he's pretty hated on social media, reddit, etc.

Before you say his play has dropped off this year, (it has) he was pretty in-line with his career averages last year, and people were still kind of shitting on him last year too.

He got old and has an ego.

Before his injury he was an elite 2 way wing, sharpshooter, had 3 championships, was always a member of Team USA, and was soft spoken.

It happens to a lot of great players when they decline due to age. People start questioning them and it affects them because they are human.
