Hi.

I run a one-person studio providing branding, package design and websites.

I'd love some help to understand better what potential "hot button" issues entrepreneurs may have with these sorts of designers.
Thus far, I've gone with my "gut feel" regarding what the IDEAL messaging should be, but now I'm working on SEO and want to bring the sort of blog content that will be REALLY valued and not just fill social channels.
Could you please share with me:

  1. Experiences where you felt ripped off by your designer (including what cost for what service/product)
  2. Where did the designer miss the mark with what they delivered?
  3. Any stories where you felt HEARD and subsequently loved the work?
  4. Are there any sticker shock stories regarding pricing?
    One last thing...
I decided to post prices on my site.
Do you think this is a good move or stupid?
Thank you so much for your attention and participation.
    Brent

And if you have the time,
I'd love some constructive criticism about my messaging.

The site is at flink dot ca.

I feel ripped off when they just turn to Canva. Like what?! I could easily do that too! I want creativity! If I’m paying someone it’s because they offer something that I don’t have or can’t do. I don’t want to pay for something that I could easily do myself. I’ve been down that road and it wasn’t fun.

I guess that may have been a function of budget. Can I ask what they did and for how much?
I can see how they might do this if the timing and/or budget were very skimpy. Not a choice I'd make, though.
