I read the article and still had to do a web search for that acronym because it wasn't explained in the article.

My favorite bit of trivia is that the guy who coined the term also bought himself a diamond necklace that said "EGOT" because he was confident he would win them all within five years. That was 1984, and the man's name is Philip Michael Thomas. He played Tubbs on the original Miami Vice.

He has never been nominated for an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, or Tony in his career.
