For the first 25 minutes, the Arizona Senate's floor session on March 18th was unremarkable.

Then, state Sen. Eva Burch stood up and announced to her colleagues that she was pregnant, and planned to get an abortion.

Detailing a deeply personal medical history of past miscarriages, Burch told her fellow lawmakers that she made the decision to seek an abortion after discovering that her fetus is not viable.

"I don't think people should have to justify their abortions," Burch, a Democrat, told the chamber.

They won't listen to her because she is a woman. To them women are just something to be controlled and serve them.

You don't see any laws being made for the males also responsible for these pregnancies.

Cool, ban abortion, but give women 6-12 months paid leave and medical/psychological care for when the baby is born or dies because it was indeed not a viable fetus. Force the men to pay a proportional amount of those costs of care when they have left the household (pre-child-support?). If this was really about the baby, this is the kind of change you'd expect. But it's about controlling women and fueling the conservative "family" mindset.

Of course religious people get abortions too, they are choosy about the bible, but they'll say for them it was different, "they aren't a whore like these other women".

Edit: of course I don't believe this is the way, it's just to make a point. Women should have the right to choose what to do with their body, and men like me definitely shouldn't be making rules about it.
