It is kinda misleading but talking about newly registered ones is just the standard format with cars. Its insane really because that basically classifies cars as a consumable.

If cars werent such pieces of junk, they would last so long that there would be almost no sales to speak of. But yeah as cars get replaced at insane rates, talking about sales makes sense, because it acts as a sort of forecast.

To be more useful it needs to include previous years ofcourse so you can see the overall trend.
