The last part is probably what this is mainly about. Using it as a punishment = Using prisoners as free workers. This has already been happening everywhere in the US and there is a huge financial interest in allowing these private prisons to continue operating.
Yeah for anything except some games, wine/lutris or a virtual machine will work wonders. Not having to reboot is much nicer. You can also consider booting windows off a fast usb stick or usb ssd.

Its an aosp feature i believe, but its disabled on many phones. Graphene and calyx have it. With calyx its default off, but you can set it between 1 and 72 hours. Very handy feature.

To the first question tho. Compressing pain in a temporal sense doesnt really work i think. Some people experience migraines for their whole lives so those people would by that logic be some of the most pain resistant people on earth.
But also a branding would hurt for weeks/months until its healed and might get infected and shit. Human skin isnt like cow skin, that shit will instantly get destroyed permanently.
