Tim Houston has called a snap election to be held Nov. 26.

The Progressive Conservative leader is trying to win a second term, despite legislation he personally introduced three years ago that gave Nova Scotia a fixed election date of July 15, 2025.

Somehow governments keep making fixed election date laws that the government is free to ignore.

Hopefully the same results occur like in New Brunswick.

Unfortunately current polling suggests basically zero chance of any result other than a Conservative majority.

The polls said the same thing about the BCNDP coasting onto victory until right before the election and the same could be said with New Brunswick PC falsely believing they would win a majority.

That's not what the polls said at all.

That's because the so-called "fixed election date" leglisation only circumvents the 5-year limit laid out in the consitution. The federal and provincial Crown representatives retain the ability to call a general election - I don't think that can be changed without an amendment to the constitution, which ain't gonna happen.

It's always been smoke and mirrors.
