That's high praise. What are your other favorites of the year?
Those were all meant to be experienced in theaters.
Thanks, but don't go putting my opinion on some high pedestal. I don't exactly have the best taste in film...
Don't be too hard on yourself. Watching movies for fun and the spectacle is fine and nothing to be ashamed of. After all, escapism has always been at the core of the medium.
At least your taste is consistent instead of the chaotic mess that I have to deal with. German expressionism with weird set design that will permeate my dreams, followed by an '80s buddy cop movie that hits very different notes compared to how I remember it, followed by a Hayao Miyazaki epic? Pretty much my average week. Not to mention, I can often barely commit to watching a film due to self-inflicted choice paralysis.
