Not only Element (the client) but most of the popular servers as well and they are selling their services to law-enforcement and the military.
But if you just want to access some Matrix communities no need have a specifically Anarchist run server though, right? Just try to not get too dependant on it as Matrix is being enshittified as we speak.
Ughh, ok, I wasnt aware, thank you!
And yeah, probably not gonna use it for more than a few chatrooms for people or communities I can't contact in any better way
Thanks again
If you find any good anarchist chats on matrix send me a link. Cheers.
Well, I ended up with 4d2 (the one in the post), which seems ok (they also have a lemmy instance, though only one seems active on lemmy). Their ToS don't support piracy though, dunno if that's a deal breaker for you. I also noticed that their anarchism room isn't e2e encrypted. Btw I'm barely using matrix so I don't think I've formed a proper opinion.
Kay Iβll check it out.
Hopefully piracy thing is so they donβt get banned, not because of moral standing or smth.
I'm back with another instance I found: https://anarchy.chat/
Which is mentioned here: https://anarchyplanet.org/projects.html
Do you have a link to a room?
I'm not very versed into matrix, I suppose you can register on their server with that link above (https://anarchy.chat/) and then browse their rooms(?)
I'm still on 4d2, not on anarchy.chat, btw. 4d2's anarchism room link is this: https://matrix.to/#/#anarchism:4d2.org
(I did an edit in the comment above btw)
How is Matrix enshittifying? I'm not paying attention to it because I can't selfhost it so I wouldn't know.
They recently moved large parts of the code-base away from the (faux) foundation back into ownership of Element (the for profit company), slapped a CLA onto it and soon after made the main server software open-core and are trying to get people to switch to their vastly more efficient but proprietary "Pro" version of it.
Oh that is very disappointing
Glad I didn't switch, I guess
