I meant that, Haaland's best goalscoring season is still very far away from the numbers Messi and Cristiano put during their peak. So he still needs to get better than his current peak, and maintain the level for 15 years.

[–] Lutzelien@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (17 children)

Yeah definitely, although you are comparing his first season in a top level team (no offense Dortmund lol) to the best numbers Messi and Ronaldo ever put up.

We would need to talk about this matter in like 7 years or so.

Young british player playing for Real Madrid leading the top scorer table as a 'midfielder'

[–] sparperetor@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You get one guess.

[–] Sente-se@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

England has a good player

[–] Ocarina3219@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

TIL Haaland wasn’t trying to be good at football last year.

[–] Chesey_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He only checks notes

Won the treble whilst breaking the premier League scoring record in his first season

[–] Extremiel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Slacker, why did he not win the world cup?

[–] LarsP@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Haaland has also neglected to bring peace to the Middle East, causing thousands of deaths!

[–] ThestralDragon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You didn't brief agent saka to recruit him?

[–] smithdanvers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I presume the poker subroutine is in the next OS patch the programmers will download into him

[–] Muppy_N2@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (4 children)

No no, he was great, but didn't realize the throne was empty; whatever the fuck that means.

[–] DeLurkerDeluxe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He’ll be a billionaire by the time he retires if he plays his cards right.

Seeing how there are 0 football player billionaires, he has to play a lot of right cards.

[–] alpe_swole_tbc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah I get that people want him to be more passionate for the sport than cash, but if your passion is anything other than your current job then it makes sense to prioritise the bag

I don't blame him for taking the cash, although I would blame him if he doesn't do anything good with it

[–] Excellent-Archer-238@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I think his family will milk him after he retires and will drain his money.

Or he will be depressed if he doesn't come up to expectations (like win at leat 3 CL, another WC, several Ballon d'Or) and waste it all

He's making so much, he can't even really be milked though

[–] RauloGonzalez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

it's a combination of real madrid and england

[–] Sikdawg0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well for one, Bellingham chose to go play for a proper club that people actually care about.

Edit: Downvote me all you want, even Pep agrees with what I'm saying and complains about it.

[–] Demiansmark@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's empty man! The gate is down!

[–] emre23@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Or Vini

Or Mbappé really, although he is kinda wasting his career farming for the bag

[–] InkCollection@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Pic of Bellingham and Henderson walking near each other in England training

r/liverpoolfc: "He can't possibly be going anywhere else"

If getting paid the money Mbappe is paid is considered wasting your career, then sign me the fuck up to wasting my career

[–] sangueblu03@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The guy is already worth near a quarter billion, makes 72m per year, will get some sort of signing bonus at the next club he goes to, and is only 24.

He’ll be a billionaire by the time he retires if he plays his cards right.

“Wasted” is crazy - the man’s been milking his career like an absolute genius since day 1.

What happened with grealish? Why has the fawning stopped?

[–] panetero@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When you win the WC at 19 being one of the superstars, you're kind of expected a level of greatness that goes beyond just money.

[–] USA_A-OK@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's a bit like Grealish a couple years ago. Grown men fawning over him in a very weird "I want to kiss him but not in a gay way" type of manner

[–] Other-Owl4441@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Even if his local team is a mess, playing for his local team rather than going to RM is wasting his career? Football attitudes are ridiculous.

[–] USA_A-OK@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He went to City? I dunno. It seemed to be at its peak in his last Villa season and during England's Euros run.

He is a generational talent and is expected to win continental titles, several ballon d'or. Or at least compete for them. He has wasted 5 good years, and has no more than 5 at top physical form.

[–] the_alert@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because he’s English, just let them have this. The first rumors of him leaving RM will be joined by “He’s coming home” and then they’ll be sad again. Just let them have this.

[–] Ndulula@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Heliath@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I've seen him plenty of times. And if you had seen him play you would know that he had never been much help defensively to his teams. He compensated that vastly with his offense but he didnt help much in defense.

Guti is a pundit on the chiringuito program. That's why.

[–] ArugulaMassive8458@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He is British and that sells

[–] Existing_Winner2980@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS THE THRONE MUST BE LEFT EMPTY

[–] BlondieClashNirvana@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bellingham brings out the weirdness out of everyone. You should see the stuff we posted on our sub when Trent and Hendo were trying to "tap" him up in the World Cup.

[–] mister_dupont@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

no no, he was going to Arsenal you see because of no fucking reason whatsoever.
