Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

why are the US and Germany so hellbent on defending everything the Netanyahu regime does? As a german I understand and respect our past guilt, but that does not mean we should turn a blind eye to what is happening in Gaza. Just this week a german leftist politian was kicked out of the parliament, because she wore a shirt simply saying "Palestine". Yet Israel badges are allowed. This is so fucking hypocritical, it makes me sick to my stomach.

Germany it's because of the holocaust (funny that it never translates into wanting to make a safe homeland for Roma people at all costs).

US it's because of Christian death cults wanting a new temple in Jerusalem because they think it will bring Jesus back.

AIPAC (Israel) runs the US political system. Whenever a bill about israel comes up it gets 97% of the vote and it always has for decades, even when less than half the US supports israel. Its essentially bribes. I dont know about germany-- are your politicians also for sale?

By some strange coincidence John F Kennedy was assassinated right after he pushed to have AIPAC registered as a foriegn lobbyist. After he was killed that effort to rightly reregister AIPAC was cancelled. And after Israel shot up a United states Naval vessel (The USS liberty) in international waters during the 6 day war, we did nothing at all. They own us and we do what we're told. Its impressive really. They are a infitesimal part of our population but they pull it off.

The USA is abut geopolitics. Israel is their proxy against iran. It could have been any other israeli government and another prime minister and still do the same

Israel is their proxy against iran.

Israel doesnt let US military planes do overflights, or land. It was a huge deal in 2016 when they let a navy destroyer resupply in one of its ports. Does that sound like a puppet to you? We have no real permanenet military bases in Israel either. They wont allow them.

What do you think israel can do if the usa decide not to take any order from israel and the usa decide to stop all billions dollars and arms to israel?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

They can stop their bribes. cough I mean campaign donations. Because AIPAC is totally not a foreign lobbying entity, right?

The US doesnt have any military interests that relate to the middle east that we couldnt get without Israel. Israel's brutal colonialism in that region and willingness to use terrorism to achieve their ends has always been a massive millstone around our neck and a massive stain on our national character. Do you think supporting them has no costs to us? And what do we get in return?

Most of the "enemies" of the US in that region are our enemies because we support Israel. Osama Bin Laden said specifically that the 9/11 attacks were to wake the US people up to the repression of the Palestinian and Iraqi innocents.
