That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Because the purpose of law enforcement is oppression.
Nah, it's enforcing law, and if needed, suppressing revolt
That's what I said
That's actually a delusion but ok lol. I guess the solution to being robbed/murdered/kidnapped/raped is not to call any sort of LEO and just to "'talk it out' I'm talking about mainly if LEO is heavily reformed in the US. You cannot deny that there always will be those with the most disgusting desires, and unless they are stopped, we are no better as enablers. I always have and always will agree with the basic fact that there must be rules, and that all should be held to account under them. I can't fathom the people who think society can function with no rules. It just doesn't work. If you want to try this, feel free to. Visit your local under-policed type area where the law is more of a suggestion. I used to live there. It's pretty much always hell come to earth.
Go watch more Dick Wolf shit and have some ketchup with that well done leather
e: saw that you're Aussie but I'm leaving this because I chuckled while writing it
🤣🤣🤣
It's multifaceted, police do sometimes serve as a deterrent to or to protect people, but it's important to also recognize the position they hold isn't to help your average people as much as it is to maintain order for the benefit of the state. They are the internally focused gun that will just as soon shoot a killer as a black child walking down the street with a nerf gun. Either one serves the same purpose, stay in line or else, do what we say or else, they sow fear in the population while making the privileged feel some illusion of safety. They'll help you get your stolen car back, while also arresting a mother for stealing food from Walmart, or a homeless person for sleeping in their car. If you are any sort of minority, a police officer is a much greater threat than a help, and we've seen that in a history of high and low profile cases where police murder black people with absolutely no consequences, or in their use to suppress even the most by-the-book protests. Instead of solving the core problems that cause the majority of crimes, like poverty.
So obviously there's not really a solution to being murdered. Licking all the boots in the universe isn't bringing you back from the dead. Or make you unraped/unrobbed/unkidnapped for that matter. Police presence may be a deterrent, but definitely not a solution.
So lol I guess the delusion is that cops make you safe. The harsh reality in the US is that if you're not white there's a non-zero chance that that same cop is gonna kill you or put your life and future in danger in a real real way.
I should have said, I'm Australian. When I was assaulted in my own home by feral kids (really bad neighborhood), the police were there within 20 minutes, and all three got taken to Child Services (yeah that kind of neighborhood where the parents aren't really anywhere.) When I was assaulted in public, near a tram stop, two Authorised Officers (Rail Police type thing, but not armed, only handcuffs) got the people responsible for it, and they were transferred to the police. I was told by an obviously unwell person that they would stab me and my eyes out. Authorised Officer removed them from the train. I could go on. I'm from a country where this isn't such an issue with police being violent towards anyone. (If someone here wants to bring up what happened recently in the Northern Territory, it's pretty obvious how that was started, and I have no intention of having an argument with you. Coles sucks, but that man got physical first with the employee.)
