They also sold 884k full size trucks. How does the CEO being a woman change that the vast majority of these purchases are men?

[–] Velypso@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

How does the ceo impact how a company designs their product?

Gee, I dont know.

Elon has entered the chat

Business person makes business decision, must be because they're a woman

I'm too tired for this shit

[–] Velypso@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean.... wasn't that the argument of the original comment but reversed?

I'm providing evidence that it isn't just men making these choices.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, I'm not entertaining this anymore - it is overwhelmingly men at the core of the truck problem in the U.S.

A woman literally runs one of these companies that designs and builds these monstrosities. I'm sorry that doesn't align with your feelings on the matter.

Men buy them, sure. But a woman helps them get there.

You have seen how incompetent Elon Musk is and you're still behaving like CEOs actually matter. Beyond the ability to tank his brand, of course.

I don't have anything else to say.

[–] Velypso@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah dude, one ceo is incompetent, so they all are.

I've seen those words on social media all the time. I'm glad you're able to parrot those talking points.

Money grubbing dick heads for sure, but a lot of ceos are actually relevant to their industry.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works -2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yes, do you know what makes them relevant in their industry? Recognizing they aren't a monolith and making decisions based off of data that their employees process.

And I guess none of these employees are women in your perfect world?

A lot of men buy these trucks, for sure. But not because they have a damn choice in the states. Maybe dial back the sexism a tad, and you could realize that from the beginning to almost-the-end, everyone is involved.

Also, for what it's worth, men dont have a choice to buy small trucks due to regulations regarding fuel efficiency and size of vehicles. Turns out a lot of men actually buy these things for work, and they can't choose otherwise.

But congrats on blaming men for having no options.

You got that going for you, I guess.

I really don't know, truth be told I don't really look at any corporation as the individuals that make it up. They're all a part of the same monster, and that does skew my understanding of certain dynamics.

I don't really know if I agree with the idea that men are trapped into buying bigger and bigger trucks. Truth be told, all I know is my experience on the road - the guys driving the biggest trucks end up being the most aggressive assholes. Make of that what you will.

You dont agree?

You dont fucking agree with reality?

Jesus fucking christ, go fuck your self.

There is literally legislation in the US that prevents small trucks from being sold from the big 3, and even legislation that prevents small Japanese trucks from being sold in some states.

You believe what you want to, I guess. Continue being an uneducated waste of space.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Are you talking about Kei trucks? Are you seriously hinging your entire argument on legislation preventing vehicles that are less than 25 years old from being imported?

Or are you talking about the chicken tax and CAFE standards? Because, guess what, the cheapest price I found for a brand new GMC truck is 47 grand. Cheapest price I'm seeing for a brand new Toyota Tacoma is 31k. Top tier models come out to about 50k.

And even they're still too big, but none of that matters to you because you need a truck for truckin around doin' truck stuff!

Edit: shit, I can find a used tacoma from 2005 that would be a better price and size than your average brand new monster truck. Anyone trying to tell me that I'm rejecting reality in a used truck market like this tells me they've got skin in the game.

Fuck the reality people like you create.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 1 points 22 hours ago

do not make me hungry for squirrel pasta

[–] Velypso@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

This isn't a gotcha. It's a literal fact.

People of all types - brown, white, black, man, woman, + - contribute to the problem.

Yes, the truck owners are majority men, but who makes the ads, who designs the trucks, who approves the designs?

"Leftists" will stop at nothing to be sexist as long as its against the "in" group. For some reason, we are ok with that.

This reminds me of a B52 meme... On the right side is the conservative B52 with Nazi and confederate symbols. On the left is the Liberal B52 with feminist and LGBTQ+ symbols ... Both B52's are raining hellfire on some minority because capitalist dictatorship masquerading as "democracy".
