I always get a kick out of "Player can play D when he wants to." Just say he's not a good defender. They're probably not going to read/hear what you're saying.

My dad is 79. Literally every time he's watched a game with me the past 37 years he's mentioned "he really needs to attack the basket" without having any idea what it means. Apparently it is just said so damn much he picked it up.
