Twitter is facing severe financial difficulties under Elon Musk's leadership. Advertising revenue has plummeted due to advertisers leaving and controversial content. To make up revenue, Elon began paying select influencers, primarily right-wing and anti-woke accounts, thousands of dollars for their posts. This appears to be a publicity stunt to keep key influencers from leaving and convince people to subscribe, despite Twitter's lack of funds. However, it risks further alienating advertisers by associating their ads with hateful content from those being paid.
