RJ Hunter just put up one of the worst preseasons ever for an exhibit 10 guy that actually got run. He was so bad in his first three games that he was not played in the fourth game.
Game 1 vs Heat: 3/1/0 on 1/7 FG, -9 in 7 minutes
Game 2 vs Wizards: 0/2/0 on 0/1 FG, -16 in 6 minutes
Game 3 vs Thunder: 0/2/0 on 0/3 FG, -8 in 6 minutes
Total: 3/5/0 on 1/11 FG, -33 in 19 minutes
Hunter single handedly lost the Hornets the game vs the Heat (109-113 loss). The Hornets were also beating the Wizards by 10 before the Hornets' preseason bench which includes Hunter came in and blew the game instantly (LaMelo was +17, Brandon Miller +13). r/CharlotteHornets has been so disgusted by his play but naturally since he was never making the roster and was just a guy brought in for the Greensboro Swarm nobody would notice except Hornets fans (and maybe Heat fans who watched him attempt to play hero ball and fail miserably).
Obviously these are really low sample size, I just find it amusing.
the magic of being a first round pick. you have that aura around you where teams still think you might have some promise
I really became aware of that when Anthony bennett despite being probably the worst top 5 pick since the 3pt line, was still on a team 4 years into his career.
The man never once looked like an NBA player, but that contract plus being first round pick just meant teams still tried to see if there was something there lol.
i remember his like single 18 pt game as a rookie where he hit a couple jumpers.
Kyrie was clapping on the bench, announcers were trying to hype him up
Yeah, I think all over the league their is probably 2-3 guys on rosters that should be in the league anymore.
It’s actually kind of stunning how many first round busts then go on to struggle overseas.
Like girls thinking they can turn around bad boys
