Looking at the amount of crazy starting rosters this season, it seems difficult to think of an equivalent to it in recent times:

  • Denver returning to defend their title with Jokic and Murray
  • Suns with KD, Booker, and Beal
  • Heat looking for the Finals runback
  • Bucks with Giannis and Dame
  • Spurs continuing their legacy of lanky stoics with generational talent in Wembanyama
  • Blazers with Scoot and Sharpe
  • boston celtics
  • Almost 40-year-old LeBron still being a top 10 player alongside AD
  • Warriors with Chris Paul

When was the last time a season showed as much promise as this? And which of these teams has the most potential to live up to the hype?

We're on a trend. Great players are playing longer. The last generation of great players are still great. In the 90s KD, Steph and LeBron would be washed up or severely diminished by now. Also as the league got more global they've opened up their talent pool by a couple billion people. And now arguably 4 of the top 5 in the league are international players.
