Free climbing is an activity for crazy people and this guy seems like an example of that.

Yeh, according to the article, this guy abandoned his daughter "for God" and is being praised a hero...

He's not being praised as a hero. The article says, "climbing hero". Very, very different things.

Free climbing is an activity for crazy people and this guy seems like an example of that.

I used to climb outside a LOT. Among the crew I climbed with, this kind of stupidity was regarded with mild awe and lots of hope that a fully-developed pre-frontal will help this man overcome his need for attention- and thrill-seeking; the parkour reflection.

Heat least used ropes. Free soloing is the one without ropes, and indeed, insane. I agree with the other comment though, what an absolute dickwad for abandoning his family to "find god"

It took me a LONG time to parse that properly. I took it as an imperative order to melt unused lines as, perhaps, a recycling effort.
