Hey r/nba community,

It seems like NBA player salaries have been skyrocketing year after year, however, there have been reports of declining viewership in recent seasons.

Why are player salaries on such a sharp upward trajectory when the league's overall viewership may not be as robust as before? Will the NBA salary cap start to collapse once all cable subscribers die out?

the league is not making less money year on year, its making more money. more money for the league means more money for the players
