Sounds nice overall, but the UI changes make me worry that we’re on the way to making a bunch of tutorials obsolete yet again.

There's no UI overhaul, let alone a major one. I think the writer of this piece mistook that they have added Vulkan support for something to do with UI.

Tell me about it. I've been using Blender since before 2.5, when everything was garish 90s design. But I use it so sporadically that every time I use it again, I have to look up where all the buttons went. At least the search function is pretty good.
