We see after every season how people turn on players in the recent years after giving them so much praise and how they uplift one player after one season

People have unreal expectations for wembanyama right now. Some of them will definitely turn on him when he doesn’t put up 30/10 every game.

People peg him as a rookie year DPOY & that he's making all-star, all of that based on some flashes in pre-season games. People always overreact to these pre-season games, like it's mostly for end of bench players to try & earn minutes, rookies to get a feel for the floor, and actual starter players to get some cardio before the season starts, that's it.

I think Wemby will show a lot of flashes of what he can become, but he won't have close to the consistency people expect. He'll put up more stinker games than people expect, where he either gets abused by the top end guards, gets in foul trouble early, and his shot ain't falling. His efficiency will be pretty bad overall I think.

The cynical side of me wants to agree with you, but I think he might really live up to it. I doubt dpoy, but all-star is an actual expectation.

He took Wiggins’ soul the other night. If it was JJJ’s block numbers that took DPOY last year, I don’t see why Wemby can’t.

It’s funny to see some of the classic rookie predictions here (e.g. bad shot efficiency)… I think people overlook that he can literally stand still and shoot over everyone in the NBA.

I think the doubters are going to get shut up real quick.

JJJ didn't win DPOY because he blocked a potential 6 points a game.

JJJ won DPOY because Steven Adams covered up his flaws especially rebounding.

Adams played half a year. Jaren was still dominating. He will be the betting favorite for DPOY again despite losing Adams.

It’s not just the ridiculous blocks and steals…Wemby is already showing flashes of peak Gobert/young Kawhi levels of opposing players noping out of even trying Wemby.
