Sure, but it's also a more competitive league than LNB Pro A, and EuroLeague even more competitive still, where Luka won MVP. And Luka didn't manage to make all-star his rookie season, and I'd say the all-star race is even more competitive than back then. I just don't think Wemby is going to play DPOY level D, bang down the PPG & box stats to qualify for all-star on respectable TS. But we'll see, it would be an insane jump from his last LNB Pro A season.
Sairony
The dude put up great numbers on league average efficiency in LNB Pro A just last season, a league which is worse than ACB which Luka dominated, never mind EuroLeague. Saying he's top 5 in the league rookie season is pretty much saying that LNB Pro A is just a small step behind the NBA. I think he'll put up something like 22/11/3 on average TS, compete for league leader in blocks, not enough for all-star and for sure not top 5 in the league.
Nah, it's pretty universal. In fact coaches around the league also agree with that sentiment, they game planned around containing Steph & would rather give the space to KD. Which is understandable, one can only imagine the damage Steph would be doing if he got the attention of most #2s.
I don't doubt he's for real at all, I doubt his offensive game being polished enough to put up all-stars numbers. For example he's not as accomplished in Europe as Luka was coming into the league, and Luka didn't make AS in a year when it was arguably less competitive than now. Victors efficiency in LNB Pro A just last year was mediocre, a league which is considered worse than ACB which Luka dominated, never mind Euroleague. I think Wemby will be something like 20/11/3 PPG on below league average TS% & competing for league leader in blocks. That's not enough to make AS with todays competition.
He would be the first ever rookie DPOY so yeah. I think it will be very hard for him to make all-star, you need the PPG to qualify for it pretty much & I don't think his offensive game is developed enough to put up the numbers. He will get the touches, but he will also get a lot of defensive attention from day 1.
We can look at his accomplishments in Europe, and while they look very promising they're way behind what Luka did before coming into the league. And I would say the all-star race is harder than back then.
Josh Green, this is his break out year, he's been under the radar but people around here have very little knowledge about what his game is & what his trajectory looks like.
Ayton is a good bet, I know he could be considerably better than in PHX, he really needed a change of scenery. He will be getting more touches & a much more responsibility, if he steps up to the task I think he will redeem himself. I think he also have a strong will to prove PHX wrong overall considering how unhappy he was there. Hard to say if he has the mentality for it though.
I've been big on KP for a long while and the only thing really holding him back has been his injury luck. It's important to know that essentially all of those injuries has been contacted related, it's not improbable at all that he'll have a pretty injury free season, just as with Wiz. He fits incredibly well in Boston & I think people will see him as a more impactful player for that team than Brown when we get a bit further into the season.
People peg him as a rookie year DPOY & that he's making all-star, all of that based on some flashes in pre-season games. People always overreact to these pre-season games, like it's mostly for end of bench players to try & earn minutes, rookies to get a feel for the floor, and actual starter players to get some cardio before the season starts, that's it.
I think Wemby will show a lot of flashes of what he can become, but he won't have close to the consistency people expect. He'll put up more stinker games than people expect, where he either gets abused by the top end guards, gets in foul trouble early, and his shot ain't falling. His efficiency will be pretty bad overall I think.
Wilt at the tail end of his career having a legitimate rivalry with prime KAJ. Honestly convinced Wilt is the most physically gifted player to ever play the game, and would likely have dominated the league even harder than prime Shaq if he played in the same era.
Nah, he needs more, Joker will average an insanely efficient triple double this year as well most likely, and voters probably feel a bit ashamed of robbing him last season. But if he keeps playing good defense & can put up slightly better box stats on 62%+ TS he might make it.
