Ignoring any contracts involving injuries etc.

For an active player to be making $25M a year on 8 PPG. Yes he’s good on the defensive end, but as far as offensive production… $100M for a 33 year old who averaged 8 PPG in the last 3 seasons?

The offensive value for any other player with average defense would be $10M or less. I just don’t see an additional $15M worth on the defensive end.

They don't pay people $$$ based solely on your PPG, though. If we lived in a reality where PPG was the only true determining value of one's worth as a player, then sure, you could make that argument.

In our reality, Professional basketball is a lot more complex than that.
