This is wrong for three reasons:

  1. He's a citizen
  2. It's not $100k/year, it's $100k per application, which are good for 6 years
  3. Paying $100k per new employee adds up, and it would probably be cheaper to relocate to another country

For 2, there was "confusion" as during the announcement they did literally say it was yearly, then came back and said it wasn't.

That was clarified a week ago. I work with several people on that visa, and I'm well aware of the panic. We'd be pretty screwed if they all had to pay $100k/year, because they're in pretty important positions.
