With ease I condemn historic injustice—

a predetermined answer is dutifully recited

With ease I mourn suffering bodies—

though my grief is granted conditionally

its depth determined by the colour of skin

With ease I say and feel the 'right' things—

but once the dust settles

(figuratively, literally)

the world continues on,

unchanged
