The height of El Clásico, Ronaldo v Messi and arguably the two most dominant teams of the last decade or so. However which team was more successful during this time period.

I think I lean towards Madrid barely

Its close but its Real Madrid. Winning CL even a single time is a dream from many players and clubs. Winning it 3 times in a row and 4 times in 5 years is humongous. Imagine the mental fortitude and consistency at the highest level required to accomplish this feat. This has to be the biggest sporting achievement ever by any club/group of players (although ofc RM itself also won it 5 times in a row during the 50s).

Good point . But don't forget that barca won the treble twice in the period OP mentioned which is a dream for madridistas

While the three-peat is one of the greatest achievements in football history, I’ll have to remind you that Real only could do it because we had already lost the league in ‘16 and ‘18.

Our squad (I am a Real fan) was filled with big game players, but over the course of a season, we couldn’t hold up against Barca. We never managed a treble win, which Barca did twice.

Still, winning 3 UCLs in a row is insane. Many clubs go all in on the UCL instead of the league every year, and still don’t win. We did that 2 years in 3, and dominated in 2017. However, we wouldn’t have done it had Barca not been the overall better team during our three-peat stint, ironically.
