Never watched NBA in my life, where to start? (alien.top)

I'm a sports fan (football, rugby, F1) and just looking to watch some more sports during breaks in the seasons for other sports so I'm not left bored. Basketball has always interested me - I played for a bit in school - but never watched it because it's not a huge thing here in England. The rules and things seem pretty complicated to someone who's never watched before (different scores for different types of shots, travelling etc.) so where do I even begin with trying to get myself into watching, and enjoying, the NBA?

Just watch a couple top teams because you'll likely see more entertaining basketball from them. Then get the rules down later. As long as you learn the basics, you will start to understand the game just fine. You won't have to know what a pick and roll is to enjoy the game.
