Three games into the season and star players are already missing games, others ‘resting’ like what happened to the game I love???

It's a funny take, but when Jordan got to the league wasn't everyone just doing coke and partying all regular season? When was the regular season such a big deal? Just because guys are resting games doesn't mean that before everyone was playing all out every night. I feel like there were a few legendary players who were a perfect combinations of ironmen and competitive sociopaths that were able to destroy the regular season and the playoffs but the rest of league was coasting.
