What’s the rationale for declining that offensive holding penalty? I get it if it’s 4th down, or if the offense has the ball inside their own 10, but why not take 10 yards? Sure they get an “extra down” but they have to go 10 yards with that down to even break even - it would seem that the expected yards will tell you that you should take the yards, especially since it’d likely play into field position on the ensuing punt.
