Googling the dell part number on your PSU will give you a good start.
Good idea! According to the service tag, mine has a 3GHW3. Looking up this PSU on the internet brings up stores that say this PSU is used in the R520 / R620 / R720 / R720XD / T320 / T420 / T620. Should that mean that any PSU compatible with these models should also work my in T420..?
