I’m so confused. Is this a new kill bill or just the two movies smashed together? And was kill bill really only his fourth film?

There are some new scenes to my understanding but mostly it's just a re-release

Apparently Tarantino wanted them to release together originally and was convinced to break them into parts 1 & 2 if that means anything to you

Both films maahed together. The Whole Bloody Affair has existed in torrent sites for many years, which leads me ro believe that it is a fan edit. If I am correct then Tarrantino is about to cash in on an edit he probably torrented himself.

That's highly unlikely. The trailer says it has previously cut scenes. Also there's no way he'd distribute an edited Blu-ray rip to theaters. His love of film wouldn't allow it.

This is a great point. I don't know what the genesis of the bootleg is, but it is unlikely a copy of the original 35mm from Cannes.

although I guess it's possible fans reused the name to release earlier? this has been anticipated for a long time but I guess he really wanted to wait to do a theatrical release before the bluray release?

idk if there was ever a review copy or leak of his edit, but it appears he's been sitting on it for a long time

I got a chance to see Quentin's personal print of The Whole Bloody Affair in 2013. All I can say is that if you're a fan of the films get ready to love them even more. The editing that got done to make this two separate films made a mishap in the plot with the included cliffhanger & reveal that is almost unforgivable when you watch the completed film and makes the second part so much more tense & enjoyable.

The Whole Bloody Affair is the name of the official two-movie home release from many years ago. The movies were still separate parts, just sold together.

I’m guessing this new release is the films properly rejoined. This is my first time hearing about a fan edit but it makes sense that someone already did it.

The fourth he wrote and directed, not including one of the rooms from Four Rooms. The first three were Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown.

Before he was big enough to do whatever he wanted he also wrote True Romance, but his ending was different. He does like Tony Scott's ending though. He also did the original screenplay for Natural Born Killers, but he has basically disavowed Oliver Stone's interpretation and rewrite of it. I definitely consider it to be an Oliver Stone movie. From what QT has said about it, I would be interested in seeing his remake. And he did the screenplay for From Dusk Till Dawn, but he chose to concentrate on writing and acting so Robert Rodriguez got to do it.

With the exception of a couple little things, that's everything he did before Kill Bill. You're right though, it seems like he was considered a much bigger thing that his number of credits would suggest when it came out.

Edit: oh yeah, the original question: This title has been used before on a smashup or two movie set, but as I understand it this version also has some changes to the editing, including some unreleased scenes, that affect the narrative. Not really changing the story, just moving some stuff around to make it more appropriate for one big movie, like the reveal at the end of 1. Also, it seems like he's doing a "road show" of the 70mm print like he did with The Hateful Eight.
