No, this is the standard HIFIMAN build quality thing
The whole headband construction costs hifiman at most 10 bucks. It's ridiculous that they still sell this piece of crap in 2023 on $300+ headphones.

It's not just hifiman, you could say this to most brands.
hd600 costs probs 10 bucks to make now and it's 400+ headphones 25 years later.
This sub has taught me to never buy hifiman

You're missing out honestly. Unless you abuse your headphones they last fine.
I have a broken set of mdr v6's, broken set of x2's and he400i that is in mint condition all these years later.
