It feels like it's been since "I'm a Little Bit Country" that Matt and Trey really pulled a one off on both "sides". So much hate and love from both conservatives and liberals, wherever you look. They absolutely nailed this episode and I hope it opens our eyes to the reality of culture war bullshit.

But the best part of the episode was the labor/tech/billionaire plot. The dumbing down of society, flipant billionaires doing fuck all they want, AI taking over white collar jobs, college education being bullshit, trade work holding more value... It's a sub plot that is not political but the most important satire that they have produced. The Twitter freaks are arguing over "woke" and missing the entire fucking point!

Peak?? Peak was 15 years ago. Sure its good now but it's not 'peak'.

Peak south park is timeless, not rooted in contemporary politics.

Age. There were episodes in season 7-13 that wouldn’t let me breath. The samari episode, Jesus.

Peak South Park is undeniably the first three seasons. I think the new special showed flashes of greatness. It reminded me of old South Park

this was absolutely spot on with everything.

I didn't say this special was bad, actually I thought it was pretty damn good! But modern south park is focusing on the culture wars and other shit that no one really gives two shits about.

Wrong on so many levels

South Park has always been rooted in contemporary politics.

There are plenty of episodes not rooted in contemporary politics. I I’d gather to say that a lot of the ones you’re thinking of weren’t politics but current events. But they’re point is that the peak South Park eps are timeless. Ex. Imaginationland.

yeah it was in the background but the focus was on kids doing ridiculous shit. now the focus is just on the issues first and then use the kids to get their point across. Honestly, they're clearly still capable of writing great stuff, but the praise for this special is way overblown, it just confirmed how most Redditors already think.

This was the exact complaint I had about the show and got downvoted for it here before the new special dropped. I thought Panderverse was hilarious though, I'm not complaining for now

Yeah, I'm honestly perplexed by that person's claim.

AWESOM-O is one of my favorite episodes of all time. Season 8 and I don’t remember much politics in it at all

Idu the high praise. It was alright 5/10. This “special” felt like they played it too safe. And where the hell was mr. Mouse!?
