I run a VMware stack and unraid in my lab. Most of my servers are linux servers. My containers stay on unraid. Storage is mostly synology and a little bit on unraid.
Ubuntu is my go to distro when setting up a linux server.
It has some issues and I don't love everything about it. But the documentation and community is why I stay. I could load up any iso and bang my head against an issue and eventually figure it out. Or I could use ubuntu and use the thousands of guides available.
At work I use red hat. Vender documentation is good and red hat is a solid platform. I am not particularly happy with them and their licensing issues but since I'm not paying the bill I don't really care.
