Are giveaways an appropriate method of generating traffic to a newsletter? (alien.top)

So i've been thinking of doing a giftcard giveaway like amazon or something to generate traffic, but do you think it's appropriate for me to do so as an email newsletter provider? or is there a better way?

But all that aside what do you think I should improve on then?
