I recently came across three separate platforms:

Qortal: https://qortal.org/

ZeroNet: https://zeronet.io/

and

Plebbit: https://plebbit.com/

That all claim to be completely decentralized.


There's even talk about how Plebbit is more decentralized than the Fediverse, because the Fediverse is based off of instances.

And I was curious, would such a setup work better for the Fediverse, or is it basically just a huge scam/waste of time and money?

Some people here already don't like that they can't know if something they deleted is gone, or that literally anyone can see anything they do here.

This would just destroy anyone's concept of data ownership and control. Which I kinda like.

But pire peer-to-peer distributed systems like this, mean you need to locally store everything you may want to see or read, or ever have. Which is not possible for most
