The CGI in that movie is just awful. It would have probably genuinely been better if they had just stuck to practical effects and just lend into the cheesiness.
Does a scene where one of the characters picks up a sword for the first time and honestly I've seen better quality Minecraft props on Etsy.
Thoughts on the movie aside, the CGI was done really well. I'm curious what you think was so awful about it. It's more likely you just don't like the style, which is fine, but that doesn't speak to the quality of the work. There's some great breakdowns from Corridor Digital going over a lot of the behind the scenes/how it's made.
